Review: Julep May Birthstone Welcome Box for New Maven Subscribers

***This is a monthly subscription offer***

Greetings Beauties!

and Happy Mother's Day to all of the Beautiful Mothers :)

So I recently became a new Julep Maven and today I am reviewing my Free 4-Piece May Birthstone Welcome Box for New Maven Subscribers.

The box is  filled with three Julep nail colors and one fan favorite beauty product. This welcome box is valued at $58.00, but it is free for new subscribers, where you only pay $2.99 for shipping. As a Julep Maven you get brand-new, can't-miss color and beauty each month. I was especially excited to become a New Maven this month because this is the twin's birthday month, and the color inside this box Cher - Emerald for May is really pretty. I painted their nails with it already :) The other colors in the box are awesome as well.

Shelly - It Girl
\

Jahnavi - Classic with a Twist

Cher - Emerald for May

I love all of these. I also love that the ingredients in these polishes are made with Vegan ingredients.

Again, the box also came with a fan favorite beauty product which was a gel eye glider in the shade Smoky Taupe Shimmer. This eye pencil glides on really smooth and is very pigmented. The swatch that I applied to my hand stayed there all day long. That's how I could tell this is a quality beauty product, and I understand why it is a fan favorite.

Here is how it appears applied to the eyes.

Review: You Be-Natural Botanical Curl Shaper Custard

Greetings Beauties!!!

So when I visited the "Beauty 4 U" beauty supply store (local beauty supply chain located in Prince Georges County, MD) the cashier gave me a sample of of the You Be-Natural Botanical Curl Shaper Custard.  This beauty supply store is huge and I am very happy to have one right down the street from me.

After purchasing some hair products, the cashier noticed that my hair is natural so she gave me a sample. I thought that was nice because she didn't give anything to the person she rang up before me.

So, I got excited and thought "why not review this product on my blog?". No spending necessary :) I felt like this was a gift from God because I wanted to go-in on the make up section at Beauty 4 U. There were so many lashes, lipsticks, lip glosses and foundations, that I am dying to try.  In due time, I definitely will.

I was initially intrigued about this product since on the back of the sample packaging explains that it is especially for twist outs.  You don't see a lot of natural products described this way.
This made me even more anxious to try it.

Based on the front of the packaging the main ingredients within this curl shaper are olive oil, Aloe Vera, safflower seed oil, and African Extracts (not sure what African Extracts are).  The label also states that this product is especially for tightly coiled textures and it is made in order to stretch and lengthen tight coils and reduce frizz.

Now to the fun part. Lets see what my hair looked like before. A dry mess.

Here is what it looked like after moisturizing my hair with water, aloe vera juice, and vegetable glycerin, along with the Lustre: You Be-Natural Botanical Curl Shaper Custard.

Here is how it looked the next morning before fully separating and fluffing my hair out.

This was after fluffing it out a little more.

And this was after I went to the gym.

Overall, I would rate this product and give it a 4 out of 5.  It definitely did define my twits out, however, by the end of the day my hair got really big. It could have been because I went to the gym however, when I use only water and olive oil in my hair, my hair does not get as big.  I would definitely purchase this curl custard, because I actually do like my hair bigger sometimes and it made my hair really soft.  I also appreciate that the fragrance was not as strong as other curl custards I own.

Let me know what you think. Also let me know if you have already tried this and your impression of it.

How To: Easy Up-Do on Natural Hair

Greeting Beauties!

Today I would like to share with you all how I accomplish my classic up do look with an over night twist out or braid out.  The magic tool for this look is a rubber band. Yes, a rubber band.

Growing up I have always been told that rubber bands are the worst for your hair when using them for pony tails.  However, I have tried so many different hair bands and pins to achieve this look and here are the results:

Bobby Pins = Fail

Hair Ties = Fail

Old Tore up Tights = Fail

Rubber Band = Win

I think the rubber band works best for this look because it has the most elasticity and your hair is not going to look too bunched up (with Hair Ties) or keep falling down/out (with Bobby Pins).

With the twist out or braid out I do the night before I use a mixture of water, Lily of The Desert Aloe Vera Supplement, Whole Leaf and Heritage Store Vegetable Glycerin in a spray bottle in order to moisturize my hair. I then follow up with either Olive Oil or a natural hair cream.

I finally tie my hair up in a satin scarf and go to sleep.

In the morning when I take my hair out of the twists or braids I take a rubber band and moisturize the band with either olive oil or a natural hair cream so that it does not pull my hair and then carefully put the rubber band around my neck and start to bring the band up over my face. My next goal is to bring the band up from the back of the neck as far as possible toward my face first, while the part of the band that is coming over my face does not come up as much.

Special Shout Out to my younger Twin Zoey for taking these pics :)

That is it. I usually sweep my curls to side of my face, and keep it moving. This is so easy and I get so many compliments on this style.

Five Item Make Up Challenge

Greeting Beauties!

I hope that everyone enjoyed the fight last night, if you received a chance to watch it. In honor of boxing, athletics and all things challenging, I have decided to challenge myself to create a make up look with only five items.

The real purpose of this challenge is to give myself an option to turn to when I am running late but still want to look made up :)

Here are my before shots.

And here are the items five (5) items.

I did do my brows before I used these products. Brows are a given for me :) See my eyebrow routine here

Here are the After Pics

Before and After

Which five make up items would you use if you were presented with this challenge?

April Favorites

Greetings Beauties!

Happy May!

Just wanted to share my April beauty favorites with you all.

This pack comes with 25 cleansing wipes that wipe off a large amount of make up before you wash your face.  The grapefruit smell awesome and these wipes do not leave your skin feeling dry like some other facial wipes I have tried.

I have been using the top right hand side shade to define my brows and it has been doing wonders. It is the perfect shade for my brow bone area. I have not experimented with the other shades too much but I plan to in the near future for my under eye highlight and contour.

This foundation is definitely one of my favorite beauty products of all time. I really love the coverage it provides along with dewy finish.  Let me know if you love this foundation as well. At first I would only wear this foundation on the weekend (special occasion). However, now I just wear it everyday, because I just can't deny the coverage it provides.  I have yet to compare this to any other foundation.

I recently did a hot or not review on this product and was thoroughly surprised at how it appeared on my skin after blending it out really well and taking a pic.  I really love the compact it comes in. The mirror is huge.

This MAC Lipstick is in the shade Angel. In the past, with my darker skin, I have been reluctant to try pink lipstick, but this Angel shade has really helped me with my transition. Here is a picture of me from Instagram when I have it on.

When I first tried this perfume, I though it smelled a little old school, but then I after I kept trying it, I noticed that after an hour the smell really transforms into a really sweet and pretty smell.  Also, the fragrance lasts all day.  The smell is so classic that it can be worn in the summer and winter in my opinion.

So, those are my April favorites. Let me know what you think: If you plan to purchase any of these or if you already have any of them.
